The Raj restaurant on the Shore opened its doors to the public in 1986. The changes in and around the Shore area of Leith since then has meant that we have had to constantly revise and adapt to new customer requirements whilst continuing to accommodate our regular loyal diners.

Everyone at the Raj restaurant believes that it is important to maintain and encourage the local community spirit in changing times. The restaurant is heavily involved in the local community, one of the reasons why the homeless at the nearby Dunedin Harbour Hostel were treated to a slap-up buffet free of charge as an extension of our charity banquet service. Our menu is constantly revised by proprietor Tommy Miah. After his many visits to Bangladesh and India new dishes are added to the already extensive menu. The Raj on the Shore is the only Indian restaurant in Europe where you can sample winning dishes from the International Indian Chef of the Year competition now in its 14th year.
